About Alanah
From Northern Ontario to the West Kootenays.
Alanah was raised by parents who encouraged creativity and a love for the outdoors. Jones says she felt a spark for the future when her family spent a summer in the surreal town of Nelson, British Columbia and promptly sold everything leaving their roots in Timmins, Ontario and never looked back. Exposed to a life lived outdoors, mountains, rivers and artists, she discovered a community that was supportive of her creativity.
“I quickly realized that Nelson is a place I wanted to be and will always return to.” she says.
For those who are lucky enough to know Nelson, it nurtures the creatives and is home to the renowned Textile & Fibre Arts Program; Kootenay School of Arts at Selkirk College. Jones joined and thrived in the program that was designed to cultivate an environment of creative problem solving and thinking in conjunction with hands-on studio work supporting students in becoming efficient creative makers in their field of textiles and apparel design.
Upon graduating, Jones decided to spend a couple more years in post-secondary to deepen her background at the University of the Fraser Valley where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, combining her love for Fashion and Textiles with an end goal of working in Vancouver’s apparel industry.
While in university, Jones built on the skills developed to get a solid jump on her career. Together with her classmate, Jones started Eightyninety Apparel which was a global online fashion brand dedicated to independent women born in the 1980s and 1990s. In total the partnership produced three collections of original clothing from ideation to sales in rotating pop-up shops across the Pacific NorthWest and sold on a Ecommerce platform.
The process taught Jones plenty about developing a brand, sales and overseas mass production. With several balls in the air, Jones also started an internship and eventual employment with Naked Brand Underwear, a Vancouver-based company that specialized in fashion essentials for men. Working for the start-up—which was eventually purchased by a New York company—again furthered her industry education. Today Alanah has built up over a decade in the apparel industry in product operations currently based out of North Vancouver, BC.
Since working with Noble Motives Collective as the Senior Designer & Product Development Manager for their brick & mortar brand Caposhie Jones regularly travels all over Asia, Europe and the Middle East to monitor development, production and create new processes for their eight brick & mortar stores across the west coast of Canada. Alanah prides herself as a collaborative leader, a colour enthusiast, textile lover and detail oriented designer.
Throughout her career, Alanah has been responsible for building a full-scale apparel and accessories brand across all product classifications. This includes overseeing product line strategy and business direction across all channels. She has a proven track record of increasing year-over-year gross margins through cost management, pricing negotiations, inventory management, and highlighting financial targets to surpass benchmarks and exceed performance expectations.
Alanah continually seeks new ways to connect-with and learn-from the ever-changing apparel industry and is passionate about leaving a minimal impact on the planet while doing so. She enjoys fresh tracks, fresh grown food and keeping creative at her home close to the ocean.
